Day 2...
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Audrey continues to do well and
we are so proud of her!

Her lungs are doing great.  She only
required assisted breathing and oxygen
for the first few hours of life.  Audrey
has been breathing room air for the last
day and a half.  She misbehaved a little
last night and dropped her heart rate
and oxygen saturation.  This morning,
the neonatologist decided to start
a daily dose of caffeine to help with
these issues.

 Close up of sweet feet
My Mom and sister brought Caleb to see
us again today.  They are doing a great
job taking care of our little man...poor baby
doesn't understand what's going on
and why Mommy and Daddy are staying
away so long :(
Audrey's bilirubin level was high this
morning also...she is now lounging
under phototherapy to help correct this.
Her big brother brought her a
stuffed animal...it's bigger than she is :)
Late this evening was my first time
being able to hold Audrey!  She is such
a tiny girl!
Justin was not able to be there when I held her :(
So, we are gonna give him a little Daddy Daughter
date tomorrow for his first time holding Audrey.

We were able to be present while the neonatologist
made his rounds this morning.  It was nice to hear
what his views and thoughts on her progression were.
They are still so impressed with how well she's doing
so soon (which all can change quickly, but we are
hopeful for a smooth ride).  We were told she may be
here until her due date (February 16th) worst
case scenario.  If she tolerates the caffeine this
evening and behaves, she may graduate to
an isolette in a few days and will start feedings.

I should be discharged in the morning and
am so excited to be home with Caleb!  Both
our children need so much attention right
now and it makes my heart sad that Caleb
is slightly left out.  So, tomorrow, hopefully
we can change some of that and be around
for Caleb more also :)  I am adjusting a lot
also to the situation.  It is so strange to have
a newborn - but not have the responsibilities
of feeding and changing diapers constantly!
Soon, very soon, I am sure all that
will change.  For now, I am thankful for
Audrey's caregivers and the ability to care
for my son and know my daughter is being
cared for just as well :)

i am so glad you were able to hold her! i bet justin is looking forward to daddy/daughter time.

i guess i didn't realize she was in the bed that some go in prior to the isolette, but am so glad to hear that she is impressing the staff...keep it up audrey!

we used to call Noah's lil goggles his 'cool shades' while he was under the billi lights. :) hopefully they let you keep her things, it's amazing going back to the 'cool shades', his first hat, and even his blood pressure cuffs, and seeing how small he really was.

noah was on caffeine to for awhile too, those kids like to make our heart rates drop when theirs do!

love you and praying for you guys...i am sure caleb is really enjoying his extra time w/ his grandma and grandpa
